Support Denmark/”Banned” Danish Cartoons (Correction)

Correction:  I said that the name of the cartoonist was Jyllands-Posten, that was the name of the original paper that printed the cartoons.

I am sure many of you have heard about the Danish cartoon artist who drew pictures of Muhammad. He has been in hiding under death threats. The original paper that printed the cartoons was Jyllands-Posten. There is a website, Support Denmark, that is showing support for Jyllands-Posten and freedom of speech. On this website, you can find banners for your own blog or website. There is also links to find Danish products to show your support of Denmark and Jyllands-Posten.

Here is what it says, on the English section.

English

On the 30th of September 2005 the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten published 12 cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. Muslims raised a storm of protest and two artists went into hiding after receiving death threats. Islamic organisations demanded an apology from the Danish government and the incident turned into a world-wide diplomatic issue. The OIC (the Organisation of the Islamic Conference), the Council of Europe and the UN all criticised the government of Denmark for not taking measures against the newspaper Jyllands-Posten. The Danish prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen defended the freedom of the press and free speech and stated that any measures, if appropriate, could not be taken by the government but only by a court of law. Meanwhile in Islamic countries Danish flags are burned and Danish products are taken off the shelves. Several countries have withdrawn their ambassadors from Denmark and armed men attacked the office of the EU in the Gaza strip.

Denmark needs our support. Show that you care and put one of these banners on your website.[here]

I proudly want to announce that I support Freedom of Speech and Denmark and Mr. Jyllands-Posten. I am going to keep post at the top of the page, until I figure out how to put the banners in my sidebar. Keep looking below for fresher posts. The banners I have displayed are Dansk (Danish), English and Česky (Czech). Each banner is linked to the section in that language.
There are other banners in many other languages. I chose these languages, because the artist is Danish and plus I have Danish ancestry. English is obvious. I have stated here before, and in my “About” page, that I have Bohemian ancestry. Bohemia is in the Western/North Western region of modern day Czech Republic. I could also add the banners of many other of my ethnic backgrounds. But my Bohemian ancestry is the one I am most interested in. Plus it is in my Bohemian ancestry that married into my Danish ancestry. If you were to ever seepictures of my great grandma, you would agree that Danish-Bohemian(Czech) unions produce the cutest kids ;) .

In support of Freedom of Speech, Denmark and Jyllands-Posten I will also add the “banned” cartoons, curtesy of HumanEvents.com.
