Time to Ask Tom Tough Questions

Over at First District GOP Blogs is an announcement that Tom Casperson will be in L’Anse – Meet & Greet.  I would have let y’all know sooner about this, but I just found out on the First GOP Blogs.  Keith only posted it early this morning.   Details are here.  Not much is known about Tom Casperson.  Only that he is a State Rep from Escanaba, Michigan and that he is good for business.  I can not make it to the Meet & Greet.  If any of you out there can go, ask questions.  Questions that his peeps are unable or unwilling to answer.  I have tried asking the campaign where he stands on welfare reform, immigration issues and the H2Bs.  In case your wondering, H2Bs is the visa programs that allow the foreign workers in to work on Mac Isle and Mac City and somewhat in St. Ignace.

I am rather busy right now, but when I have the time I will post the “love letter” that incubent US Representative Bart Stupak (D) wrote to Nancy Pelosi regarding raising the cap on allotted workers to enter the US.

If you are able to attend the Casperson meet & greet ask him questions about where he stands on the above mentioned issues and please report it to me.  I will give you a chance to guest blog here, plus you will get a gold star!

I have nothing against Mr. Casperson or his peeps.  I just want him to answer some questions before I blindly follow a candidate, just because they have mucky-muck friends.  If you want to know who his primary competition is, check out Don Hooper, Linda Goldthorpe and here is Tom Casperson’s site.

  1. There’s a great opportunity for Tom to get his positions on the issues out in the open coming up in just a few days. Don Hooper and Linda Goldthorpe, willing to go on record and face tough questions, have said yes to a number of debates that will start on Saturday, May 10th at the Boyne City Performing Arts Center. For Tom to join in and participate in these could be a boost for his lack of name recognition below the bridge, and will help him if he does well answering the questions. We need some good ole fashioned competition around here to get these politicians riled up.

Tom, why not come out and let the voters of the First know more about what position you’re going to take for us when and if you make it Washington and are faced with the Washington machine that wants you to compromise your values. (One can only surmise that you don’t get that much support from Washington unless they’re going to want something from you when you get there).

Check it out – http://www.FirstGOPDebates.com – the debates will be webcast on the internet live for those who live outside the area and can’t get to them. The whole series is being sponsored by WJML Radio – News Talk 1110 A.M. radio. and I guess there’s going to be other local media sponsors (newspapers and TV stations) that’ll likely join the series as moderators.

If Tom opts out, too bad for the voters of the district. You can still see what the other two candidates have to offer. I hope he’ll play ball. I’m a free-market economy guy and say, “Let the best one win”. When you limit the players – you limit the options that we Americans have to choose from. Tom will have to make a decision. Avoid tangoing with Linda and Don (so not to “validate” their campaigns) and run the risk of looking like he has something to hide. Or, join in the fun and come out into the open with what his stance is on the issues (Does Tom have another website somewhere that we don’t know about that state his positions on the issues? The only one I see, Time4Tom.com, doesn’t say anything at all – zero – zip – nada – on what he stands for.)

  2. Political Patriot,

Thank you for the info. I would really like to see Tom Casperson participate and I would really like to hear where he stands on the issues, just as many of the jaded non-GOP affilliated First District voters would like to hear.

This seems sorta opposite of what is going on with the Dems in the national scene. Just as Hill is challenging Bar to a debate, in this case the novice is challenging the heirachy to a debate.
