UPDATE on First District Debates/I will be a moderator

UPDATE: I got a phone call, on Tuesday, asking that I be one of the moderators! I really hope that you, the reader, will watch this on the live web cast or even better, show up in person at the Performing Arts Center in Boyne City from 6pm to 9pm. Tom Casperson is still unconfirmed as a participant. I would really like to see him participate. I think this is a really good chance for voters in the First District to see where all the Republican candidates show what they each stand for. This way the voters can decide who they believe would be the best to go up against Bart Stupak, on August 5th. Again, if there is a pressing question you want to know from the candidates go here and fill out the form. All you have to do is add your name, town and question, simple. 
There will be a series of four debates for the First District GOP U.S. Congressional candidates. For info check First District Congressional Debate Series. Candidates are Linda Goldthorpe, Don Hooper and State Rep. Tom Casperson (R-Escanaba). Confirmed candidates to the debate are Linda Goldthorpe and Don Hooper. Pending, Tom Casperson. The first debate in Boyne City, to take place Saturday May 10 6pm to 9pm, will be sponsored by WJML News Talk 1110 & 1210. It will be live streaming on the internet or you can watch in person.

As of current, I have not decided to officially endorse any of the candidates. I do have some opinions, but I am holding back until I know for sure whom I want to support. Y’all know I am about issues first and foremost. I want to find out where all the candidates stand on the issues. I will keep y’all updated on any details about the debates and what the candidates are up to. This is a chance for the candidates to show what they are made of. We here in the First District need to choose who will be the best to go up against U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee).

What a difference a couple of years makes. A few cycles ago when I was working in Lansing it was all we could do to find a candidate to run against Bart Stupak. Now we’ve got three of them eager for the chance.
It’s not going to be quick and it’s not going to be easy but CHANGE could be coming to the UP (and the trolls).

Thanks for mentioning this - C’mon y’all in NW Michigan. Grab the popcorn and come by and see your candidates in action. This should be a fun event.
