Michigan’s First District Congressional Race News
As part of my “(I) report, you decide” on the First District Congressional Race, I am being as neutral as I possibly can. Here’s the deal. I am very opinionated. If you are not new to this blog and don’t know I am opinionated, and a bit smart-ass, I must ask what you are smoking? While I am opinionated and throughout the Presidential Primary I was biased about the candidates and had my favorites, one at a time
. The deal with the congressional race is that at current I feel it is too personal for me to pick a candidate at this moment. In the Presidential Primary I had never met any of the candidates before the primary, nor any of the RNC party officials. I have been involved in party politics, I know First District GOP party officials. I like all three of the congressional candidates. There are things I like about each of them. There are things I don’t like about them. This is why I will be neutral and give the most unbiased info, along with being fair to each candidate, so you, the voter in the First District can form your own opinions.
Hooper, Goldthorpe debate in race for 1st District GOP nod
BOYNE CITY — Linda Goldthorpe and Don Hooper both bring something old and something new to the race to face Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Menominee, in November.
This is the third race for Hooper, 76, who hopes his conservative ideas will be enough to win his party’s support. Goldthorpe, on the other hand, pulls more from the Ron Paul school of thought, and is relying on her years of work as a pro bono lawyer fighting big government. Both are Upper Peninsula natives.
While they advocated for less government control in their first scheduled GOP debate on Saturday night at Boyne City High School, the pair differed most on the Iraq War.
“I never understood how our oil got under their sand,” said Goldthorpe, 48, to the audience of about 60, while many more tuned into the debate streamed online by its sponsor WJML. “We’re over there protecting big business.” Goldthorpe went on to call the war “inappropriate,” and said she continues to advocate for a quick exit strategy. I will keep y’all updated on all the news about all three candidates. There is a devious part of me that would like to have fun and really mess with the system and post about Bart Stupak. But I don’t have time.

All You Need to Know About Michigan Redneck
I am a politically conservative chick who has a passion for politics, and The USA. I currently live in the Upper Peninsula. I grew up in the Flint, Michigan area. I am mainly a Fiscal Conservative. I am a blue collar worker who is eligible for many gubmint handouts. I refuse to sign up for these programs. I pay my bills according to which utility threatens to shut me off first. I struggle but I was raised that to get what I want and need, work for it.
Besides politics I am studying my Bohemian genealogy and whenever I have time, I try to pick up my grandpa’s guitar. To follow my genealogy search about the Reimel, Nelson, Kallis and Selinger families click www.michiganredneck.blogspot.com. My favorite music is Rockabilly and other popular genres from the 1950’s. I love to eat healthily. My favorite food is Central European; Czech, Polish and German. I love to eat pork, sauerkraut, potatoes/or dumplings washed down with beer. My favorite beer is Pabst Blue Ribbon. I love to sew. The main sewing machine I use is my grandma’s Domestic Deluxe 153 from 1951. Starting on Thanksgiving, I start playing Christmas music and make Christmas presents for friends, co-workers and family. I have a passion for decorating. My style is a mix of Andy Warhol meets Donna Reed. I try to add a little bit of all elements of the fifties in my cute little Yooper cottage. If you would like to know more about me, just ask!
