Where Politics and Rockabilly Become Strangely Fused

Rockabilly, Detroit Style!

Y’all know my love of Rockabilly music, the fifties and of course my love of Michigan.  There is one Rockabilly artist I have loved his music, but never knew who really sung these songs.  Thanks to You-Tube, I have found out that not only is the artist Jack Scott, but also the first white artist to make it big out Detroit.  I also found some of his songs I never heard before.

First I must share with ya my most fave song by him.  The first time I heard “My True Love” I felt deja vue all over.  I can’t explain it.  I just started singing along, like it was some long lost song I hadn’t heard for a long time.  It has a very mystic sound.

Jack Scott – My True Love, 45 Record

Just Dreamy!

Jack Scott with the Chantones – Goodbye Baby – 45 rpm

JACK SCOTT – The Way I Walk // Carlton 45 rpm

Talk about attitude, daddy-o!

Jack Scott – Now That I

Now that I found out there is a Rockabilly star from my home state I am a happy camper.

Jack Scott “What In the World’s Come Over You”

Jack Scott – Leroy

Jack Scott – Cool Clear Water

Jack Scott sure was a tall glass of water, dreamy.

Jack Scott – Flakey John

Jack Scott – Wiggle On Out

Boom, boom, hey, hey this baby’s gonna wiggle on out. Hey, eyes up here. OK, now. There are so many kicky Jack Scott songs. I will try to share them with y’all in future Rockabilly after midnight posts.

Lastly, let’s never burn bridges of Rockabilly behind us. It’s never to late to look at the music behind us. Let’s not forget the great music. Never say goodbye to the artists we once knew. Please try hard to remember them.

  1. Excellent recordings and a fine undervalued performer, in Jack Scott!
I’ll always remember him for the classic, “What in the World’s Come Over You”. Great voice!

    Thanks for the tasty cuts!

  2. Hi Mike,

Thanks for stopping by my blog. You are so right about Jack Scott being undervalued. As an Elvis fan, I could never say Jack Scott was any better than Elvis. But he was just as good with as much soul as Elvis, plus just as good looking. I guess Jack didn’t have a manager as smarmy as “Col.” Parker. His voice just matches so well with The Chantones’.

Did you check out how the girls in the audience got all emotional when he was singing “What in the world’s…”?
