“In your guts, you know (s)he’s nuts” – Lyndon Johnson

You need to know: 2nd Amendment Edition

Another special message for my Oklahoma readers;

Sportsmen for Inhofe

You need to know:
Andrew Rice on the 2nd Amendment

With Election Day right around the corner, I urge you to spread the word about the differences between Oklahoma Rifle Association and National Rifle Association-endorsed candidate Senator Jim Inhofe and his opponent, Andrew Rice.

Just two years ago, Rice received an “F” grade by the Oklahoma Rifle Association and was labeled a “proven enemy of gun owners’ rights.” Now, Rice will say anything to win, even claiming he supports gun owners’ rights. Please forward this important message to your friends and help set the record straight.

Andrew Rice:
“No friend of gun owners”

The Oklahoma Rifle Association (ORA) gave Andrew Rice an “F” grade in the 2006 General Election Ratings when he ran for State Senate. An “F” grade is given to those who are described as “A proven enemy of gun owners’ rights. A seriously anti-gun candidate who always opposed gun owners’ rights, and/or actively leads anti-gun legislative efforts or sponsors antigun legislation.”

According to the 2006 ORA questionnaire, Rice specifically stated he did not hunt. When asked to rank the biggest problems confronting Oklahoma hunters, he wrote “not sure, need to be informed better on the issue.” Rice may find it especially difficult to hunt, as well, given that he states in the 2006 questionnaire he owns no firearms.

On the 2006 ORA questionnaire, Rice stated he “supports an ‘assault weapons‘ ban, believes civilian semi-automatic firearms should be restricted, supports the registration of all firearms, believes all handguns should be registered, believes firearms owners should be licensed, and does not support Oklahoma’s ‘Stand Your Ground’ law.”

In his 2006 ORA questionnaire, Rice specifically states he is not a current member of the Oklahoma Rifle Association, the National Rifle Association, or any other shooting, hunting, or fishing organization.

In his 2006 race for Oklahoma Senate, Andrew Rice failed to return the NRA-PVF candidate questionnaire. The NRA has endorsed Rice’s opponent in each of his campaigns.

In 2008, Andrew Rice voted against Senate Bill 763, which allows District Attorneys to carry concealed weapons anywhere in the state for personal protection.

He also voted twice against Senate Bill 145, a bill (which passed 39-6) that allows judges to carry concealed weapons in their courtrooms.

Jim Inhofe:
Endorsed by the NRA and ORA

The Oklahoma Rifle Association (ORA) has endorsed Jim Inhofe.

The ORA praises Jim’s leadership saying: Senator Inhofe has a long history of support for the Second Amendment dating back to his days in the Oklahoma State Senate and… on election day, for Oklahomans who believe in the ‘right to keep and bear arms,’ the choice is simple.”

Jim Inhofe is a longtime NRA member and avid outdoorsman.

Jim has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association in his race against Andrew Rice.

Jim has consistently received an “A+” grade from the NRA.

An “A+” grade by the NRA is given to “an incumbent with not only an excellent voting record on critical NRA issues, but who has also made a vigorous effort to promote the Second Amendment.”

He is a member of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus, and was honored to receive the U.S. Fish and Wildlife’s “Legislator of the Year” award for his efforts to pass the Partners for Fish and Wildlife Act.

Senator Inhofe praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn a DC gun ban and has joined a bipartisan group of Senators to ensure that the overturning of the DC gun ban is upheld and that gun owners’ rights are fully restored.

Before the Supreme Court heard this case, Senator Inhofe joined colleagues in submitting an amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to affirm that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess firearms.

Senator Inhofe has a proven record supporting sportsmen and gun owners. That is why he has earned the endorsement of both the Oklahoma Rifle Association and National Rifle Association.

Now that you are armed with the facts, please forward this email to your friends and help set the record straight!

Sincerely,

Josh Kivett
Campaign Manager, Friends of Jim Inhofe
