Hey y’all! Your Rockabilly Baby’s back! And boy is she ever back! I’m madder ‘an polecat, stuck in the rain, hogtied!!
Back in January I tried to make a comeback. Let’s not recap. Let’s just say I have been very busy preparing to get the sewing business going. There are some things I believe that God has kept me from this blog. He has been molding me on a few things. Lately I have been finding myself getting closer to God. So I have been sitting around figuring how I can walk in faith, continue on this blog, keep my temper in check, yet stay edgy. I’m trying to figure out how, or if, I can stay Rockabilly, sassy, brassy and sexy, and be Christian all at the same time. So I am inviting y’all to join me in on this journey. We will get more in depth in future posts. And as always, I welcome comments.
I admit the post subject above is quite eclectic. Some of these things do connect and others don’t. I am not going to try to connect all of them all at once. But you will see which ones connect to which. These are just some of the things that are on my mind.
I have been wanting to comeback for so long. But, alas, I’ve had so many things spinning in my mind for a while now. It got overwhelming for me to just sit down and talk about these things post by post. For this post, I am going to just touch on some of the subjects. This is just a sampling of the full posts to come.
Since I have been gone Micheal Steele was elected RNC Chairman. He has said some things, i.e. Rush Limbaugh and pro-choice, that has gotten a few feathers ruffled. Now y’all know that I am not a big fan of Rush or anyone who walks around with the attitude of, “I am a Republican. It’s the most important thing. I hate Democrats…” So I won’t be touching on that.
Y’all also know that I identify as a Fiscal Conservative. I am for family values, pro-life, pro-hetero marriage. But I believe these are issues for the home and church. I do not believe in making the Republican Party some extension church. The Republican Party needs to focus on “piddly” issues such as, I don’t know, lower taxes, welfare reform (actually ending all hand-out programs) and immigration reform. I prefer to separate my Christian views from my political views.
I defend Michael Steele in the hullabaloo about the GQ interview. But I do think he needs clarify his views and stand strong. Regardless of what his true thoughts are, I think it is a good thing what he said. Not that I agree with a pro-choice stance. Being a single woman, who happens to be a Conservative, I am sick of the Democrats lulling in single women while the Republicans are just ignoring them. The Democrats are telling them that if they vote for them, they will take care of them and manipulating them to follow a pro-choice doctrine. The Republicans are just letting this happen. They just say, “oh, single women are pro-choice, there’s no way we can get them to join up.” I suppose we could get into this later, let’s get back to Mr. Steele. I think his statements could bring in pro-choice single women, who are sick of seeing gubmint suck up their tax money to go to some welfare momma. Once they are in the party, they can be convinced to become pro-life. What good is the pro-life movement if everyone walks around saying they are pro-life without converting others? With these women who are fiscally Conservative, they can be told the truth about how their tax dollars are going to abortion mills. From there they can be told the brutal truth about what actually happens. Well, let’s save the rest for a full post.
Since the last election, I have started leaning Libertarian. There are some things that I don’t agree with the Libertarian Party on. But I more than agree with them on fiscal issues. I wholeheartedly agree with the whole thing of “Just say no” to gubmint spending. Gubmint should not be big-brother, nor should it legislate morality. During this time, I have been learning about Barry Goldwater. Back in the late fifties and early sixties he was warning that the infiltration of the Evangelicals into the Republican Party would eventually become it’s downfall. Now, don’t get me wrong, I welcome Evengelicals. I don’t think the Republican Party should be turned into the Evangelical Party. I think what it needs to be with the whole Evangelical thing is the same as there are Republicans who play golf, some Republicans play basketball, some Republicans snowmobile, some Republicans sew, some Republicans skydive,… Well you get my point. Granted religious views are way more serious than hobbies, but these are just things that need to be left at the door of entering politics.
Now, I don’t pay too much attention to Hollyweird, but I have been hearing about this Rihanna girl. I guess she is some hip-hop or R & B singer. Now I wouldn’t care too much about her personal life. But the media has been talking about her boyfriend, Chris Brown, beat on her. The hullabaloo that has been going around that teenage girls and young women are actually blaming her. Something is going on in our culture that is going backwards.
I think maybe some people are sick of feminism. I am too. But it seems as though society’s countering to feminism is the bimbofication of women. Why not counter feminism with the Biblification of women? I have noticed on FOX News, even, that women are being bimbo-fied. Need I mention the frat boy show “Red-Eye”?
This is what I don’t get. OK, FOX News is supposed to be the cable news channel for Republicans. Republicans and Evangelicism are becoming intertwined. Why aren’t the Evangelicals saying anything about this bimbo-ism? Why aren’t they speaking out against the Viagra, Cialis, Trojan vibrating touch, Vermont Teddy Bear, etc. commercials? Don’t even get me started on that mild-ly.re-tard-ed.ex-tenz.bim-bo! I will post more in depth about this and Rhianna on another post.
Now Barbie has celebrated her 50th birthday. I want to talk about that later. But throughout the decades, poor Barbie has received much flack, from both feminists and Conservatives alike. In the beginning, conservatives were upset about her womanly curves and that it would destroy little girl’s innocence. Later on feminists were upset about Barbie’s curves, but for different reasons. They were afraid that it would ruin little girl’s “self-esteem.” Feminists called her a bimbo, despite the multiple careers Barbie has had. Conservatives embraced feminists’ assessment and embraced the whole bimbo thing as if it were a good thing. “Take that you hairy legged, hairy pitted, short haired, butch feminists!!” YEAH! Listen, Barbie is NOT A BIMBO! Barbie is cool. Those dumb, ugly, stupid, big-head Bratz dolls are bimbos! More on Barbie and Bratz later.
Throughout my blogging time I have been a big fan of Glenn Beck. Oh boy, lately Glenn Beck has really been getting going. I LOVE Glenn Beck. Like me, he is an American first before any political party. He rallies his listeners. Not to act like children on a playground to pick on people of the “other” political party. Rather, he is more productive and rallies them to speak out against a gubmint that is out of control. He rallies them to speak out against politicians who are “vote-whores” that don’t have their localities, counties, states and/or country at best interest. Glenn says what he means, and means what he says! I will continue to post more on Glenn Beck, as I had before.
As very longtime readers know, I started out blogging about Mike Huckabee. I was there before his official announcement to run in the ‘08 Republican Primary. I was there before anyone, other than major Republican leaders and followers, heard of him. I was there before the Evangelical following. I switched support to Fred Thompson, due to the scariness of the Evangelical support. But I have described that in the past, so let’s not recap. Perhaps my anger in stopping support of him was misplaced. I have been watching his new “Huckabee!” show on FOX News. This guy really is smart. But then again, that’s what I was saying back two years ago. If he had stayed the “Everybodies Candidate” and hadn’t become the “Evangelical Candidate” I think he could have become the Republican nom. He could even be the President now. But if he is only going to try to appeal to the Evangelicals and ignore everyone else, then TV show host or party leader is where he should stay. I will continue to watch his show and talk about him.
I did talk about my spiritual journey that I am currently on previously. The closer I have been getting to God, the more I want to separate politics and religion. Politics corrupt religion. Politicians are mere humans and the more they are held up to god-like standards the harder they are to fall. I think that is why when Republicans are caught in immoral situations, the media makes a bigger deal about it than when Democrats get caught. Republicans play like they have a monopoly on morality, while Democrats don’t. Who looks like bigger hypocrite?
I will be posting on how God has been molding me and my closeness with Jesus more. I ask that you follow along with me.
OMG! I almost forgot the one thing that sets Michigan Redneck II apart from all the other blogs. The one thing that makes me me. the one thing brings out my personality. ROCKABILLY AFTER MIDNITE IS COMING BACK! If you are knew to this blog or old time reader who has missed Rockabilly postings, “Oh boy, you don’t know what you’ve been missing. All my love is put in to Rockabilly After Midnite and Rockabilly Poetry. OH BOY!”. Tonite, I have a perfect Rockabilly After Midnite posting that I know y’all will love and is perfect timing for the real comeback.
Oh, one more thing before I sign out. I read last night that Wal-Mart is going to build “special” Hispanic Wal-Mart stores. They will be selling products from Mexico. Spanish music will play on loud speakers. All cashiers will speak Spanish. Do I really need to state how I fell about this? There will be a special post on this, you can bet your sweet bippy!
Time for your Rockabilly Baby to “Boom, boom, hey, hey, wiggle on out.” “Till then,” “See ya later alligator.”

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Wow, I love that you pull no punches; just put it out there like it is. Glad to see you will be back blogging.
Welcome back!
Hi SR and DR,
Yeah, now I just have to find a way to blog and sew at the same time.
HI redneck UPer. That was long necked bottle pented up hey?
Not sure you are up to challenges on what you wrote, so I will leave it to that but for one. YOur right about your misplaced fear of Mike Huckabee. His appeal to the evangelicals does not portrait that mike is not The Best Stateman you have ever met. I know you know and I often wondered about your leaving him. The term evangelical has a bad defining and it is more then it’s orignal use now adays. Suffice it to say, that out of all the candidates out there, none are as fiscally conservative as Huckabee. His position on the Fair Tax tells us that.
May we jost is unity down the road my fair Lady from up North. Glad to read your sabatical is over. Bring it on!
My husband was born in Ontenagin (sp?) and raised in Flint. He has a couple of PBR tattoos on him. I have to make pasties from time to time just so he doesn’t get homesick. My life story can be summed up in the song “I’m Married to a Couch that Burps” by the Yoopers. Nice to run across a fellow Michigan Redneck!
