Prosecutor: Peterson tried to hire killer

Facing “financial devastation” from his divorce with Kathleen Savio, Drew Peterson allegedly offered someone $25,000 to kill his ex-wife in late 2003, just months before she was found drowned in a dry bathtub at her Bolingbrook home, Will County’s chief prosecutor said Friday.

State’s Atty. James Glasgow for the first time laid out part of his case against Peterson–who faces murder charges in Savio’s 2004 death–during a hearing Friday on a defense motion to reduce the former Bolingbrook sergeant’s $20 million bond. Judge Carla Alessio Policandriotes denied the bond request.

Doesn’t surprise me.  Normally I do not post on crime cases, or I will just make one post on it and let the readers follow it on their own.  But this seems to be a popular topic lately.  And I have never seen such a smarmy criminal in my life as Drew Peterson.  So yeah, I admit to being fascinated with this case.  I want to see him prosecuted for Kathleen Savio’s death.  I want authorities to find Stacy Peterson’s body.

Autopsy finds little on body found near homes of missing women

(CNN) — A preliminary autopsy Thursday did not reveal any identifying information on remains found on the bank of a river, less than 30 miles from the homes of two missing Illinois women.

Partial skeletal remains were found on the south bank of the Des Plaines River near Channahon, Illinois.

Partial skeletal remains were found on the south bank of the Des Plaines River near Channahon, Illinois.

The “partial skeletal remains” were found on the south bank of the Des Plaines River near Channahon, Illinois, according to Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil’s office.

A statement issued by O’Neil’s office said a forensic examination was inconclusive as to identity, race or sex of the body parts, which consisted of a rib cage, spinal column and partial left and right femur bones.

A marine cleanup crew, which discovered the remains Wednesday, also found shreds of blue jeans and a small amount of money.

The Illinois State Police Forensic Crime Laboratory is expediting a DNA analysis, which will take at least two weeks, the statement said.

Illinois State Police were on the scene Thursday conducting additional searches, said spokesman Sgt. Tom Burek.

On Sunday, Michelle Williams found a blue barrel in Channahon, Illinois, along the river and called police.

The article goes on to state that the area where the body was found is approx. 20 miles from where Drew and Stacy Peterson lived.  And is about 15 miles from where Lisa Stebic, another missing Illinois woman, was last seen.

I don’t know who this woman is.  I just hope and prey that authorities will eventually be able to make a positive id, so as to have at least a sembelance of closure for the families.  Even when they do figure out who the woman is, life will still never go back to “normal” for the family.  But at least it will be one step closer to finding and convicting whomever did this.

Just a side note, as to the woman who found the blue barrel, didn’t someone close to Drew Peterson mention something about dumping a blue barrel?
